BGMI Lite Is Finally Coming: Why Players Have Wanted It for Years
BGMI Lite is happening. The official BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA accounts on Instagram and YouTube have posted the teaser Indian players have been waiting for years: “You Asked. We Listened. BGMI LITE Coming Soon.”
No release date. No feature list. Just a few words that instantly reopened a conversation the community has been having since BGMI launched.
The Original Was Massive
Before BGMI, there was PUBG Mobile Lite, and it was never a footnote. The lightweight version was designed to run on lower end devices, requiring around 1GB of RAM and 600MB of storage, allowing players with budget smartphones to experience PUBG Mobile.
The numbers show how far that reach went. PUBG Mobile Lite crossed 100 million downloads and more than 8.3 million reviews on Google Play. Third party estimates have also placed its total installs above 300 million.
For a huge slice of players, PUBG Mobile Lite was not simply a smaller version of the game. It was the version they could actually run and play comfortably.
Why the Request Never Went Away
When BGMI launched, the full version brought back the same problem Lite had already helped solve: entry level phones struggling with lag, overheating, frame drops and storage requirements.
Players kept asking for a lighter BGMI experience, and the request continued for years.
By 2022, reports were already highlighting BGMI Lite as a major demand from the Indian gaming community. The discussion returned again in January 2026, when a BGMI player survey reportedly asked users whether they wanted a Lite version.
The latest teaser now gives that long running demand its biggest update yet.

There is no confirmed release date, system requirements, beta information or detailed feature list yet. The official BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA accounts have only confirmed that BGMI Lite is “Coming Soon.”
That means the biggest questions, including when it launches, which devices it will support and how different it will be from the original PUBG Mobile Lite, are still unanswered.
But for a request that has stayed alive in the BGMI community for years, “Coming Soon” is already the biggest update players have received.
