Esports Nations Cup Postponed to November 2027

The inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC) will no longer take place in November 2026. The Esports Foundation has postponed the tournament to November 2027, with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, remaining the host city.

EF said the decision follows an ongoing assessment of the wider regional situation and consultations with key stakeholders. The move is intended to provide National Teams, publishers, partners and fans with greater certainty and stability ahead of the inaugural competition.

Why the Esports Nations Cup Was Postponed

The ENC is being planned on an unprecedented international scale, with teams and stakeholders from more than 100 countries and territories expected to be involved.

EF said the scale of the competition, combined with the uncertainty created by the wider regional situation, made moving the inaugural edition to November 2027 the responsible decision.

The Esports Foundation also stressed that Saudi Arabia remains fully capable of hosting events, with major sporting and entertainment events continuing as planned.

Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports Foundation, said the decision was not taken lightly, adding that the organization wants the inaugural ENC to be delivered under the right conditions and at the level the competition deserves.

What Doesn't Change

The postponement does not change EF's commitment to the Esports Nations Cup or the national esports ecosystems being developed around it.

All existing ENC Development Fund commitments to National Team Partners will remain in place. The ENC Development Fund and related ecosystem development programs will continue alongside ongoing work with publishers, National Team Partners and other stakeholders.

EF will work directly with its partners on the implications of the revised timeline and the transition toward the inaugural competition in 2027.

The ENC has already generated significant international momentum. More than 100 countries and territories across every continent have secured official partner status.

The tournament will bring together top players competing for their countries and territories rather than their clubs, across multiple game titles.

The Esports Nations Cup aims to create new pathways for athletes, strengthen national esports development and build new forms of fandom through national pride and international competition.

With the tournament moving to 2027, EF will continue working with National Team Partners, publishers and other stakeholders to provide more clarity on the revised competition calendar, qualification pathways and other implications of the new timeline.

The organization said its long-term ambition for the Esports Nations Cup remains unchanged despite the one-year postponement.
