Rockstar Breaks Silence on the GTA 6 Leaks, and Never Names CyberLeek

Rockstar Games has finally broken its silence on the GTA 6 leaks, calling the past week “heartbreaking” for its development team and confirming that the Extended Look is still going ahead.

The studio also apologised for the game's long development and asked players to wait for the official experience rather than let leaked footage spoil it.

What Rockstar Said

Rockstar said the leaked gameplay was not how it intended fans to see GTA 6 after such a long wait. The studio also apologised for taking so long to finish the game, share details and show official gameplay.

The biggest update came in a brief phrase: “getting the game finished (nearly there!).”

While Rockstar did not provide a development percentage, the wording suggests GTA 6 is approaching completion.

Rockstar Does Not Mention CyberLeek

Despite the wider discussion around CyberLeek and the reported legal action, Rockstar did not mention the alleged leaker, the $CYBERLEEK token or the reported subpoenas involving Microsoft and Discord.

Instead, the statement focused on players and the development team. Rockstar also acknowledged that the leaked material may contain spoilers that could affect the intended experience.

GTA 6 Release Date Remains November 19

Nothing in the statement suggests another delay. GTA 6 remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET, followed six hours later by its wider release on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA VI website. For India, that means 12:30 AM IST on August 28, followed by the wider release at 6:30 AM IST.

Rockstar ended its message by thanking fans for their support and saying the team is “making this game for you.”

After a week dominated by leaked footage, the focus is now back on Rockstar's official presentation.
