PMWC 2026 Grand Finals: GodLike, Orangutan & 14 Others: Teams, Favorites & What to Expect

India has never had two teams reach the PUBG Mobile World Cup Grand Finals. Starting tomorrow in Paris, that changes.

GodLike Esports and Orangutan Gaming both qualified directly from the Group Stage, no Survival Stage grind, no last-chance bracket. They earned clean slots. That distinction matters in a 16-team field where six teams had to fight their way back in just to reach this point. Both Indian teams skipped that entirely.

The Grand Finals run August 14 to 16 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. $3 million on the table. The Smash Rule on Day 3. Sixteen rosters who have been preparing for this since July. Here is what you need to know before Match 1.

The split tells a story. The Survival Stage teams enter with momentum, they had to win under elimination pressure just to get here. The direct qualifiers enter with two extra days of rest and preparation. Which advantage matters more usually becomes clear by Match 3.

🇮🇳 GodLike and Orangutan: What Their Group Stage Runs Actually Looked Like

Orangutan drew Group A on August 6–7 and treated it like a statement. Aaru's squad won back-to-back Chicken Dinners in Matches 6 and 7, finished 2nd in Group A with 91 points, and qualified without needing the Survival Stage. A 1v3 clutch from Aaru in the group stage became one of the tournament's early talking points.

GodLike had it harder. Group B was widely considered the tougher draw, the "Group of Death" tag followed it from the start. Manya's roster answered with aggression: 105 points, 73 eliminations, 3rd place in Group B, capped by a 30-point Chicken Dinner on Day 4 that settled the qualification question decisively.

Both teams spent 25 days in Nepal before PMWC, bootcamping on PUBG Mobile, banned in India, while running international scrims against other qualified teams. The preparation was deliberate and long. The Grand Finals is where it gets tested.

The Smash Rule: What It Actually Means for Day 3

Days 1 and 2 (Matches 1–12) run on standard points. After Match 12, whoever leads the overall standings sets the threshold, their total plus 10 points becomes the "Match Point" number.

From Day 3 onwards, the first team to hit that threshold and then win an outright Chicken Dinner ends the tournament immediately. No waiting for the final match. No margin for a team to coast on points. If no eligible team wins a match across all 6 Day 3 games, the tournament goes to the overall points leader after Match 18.

What this means in practice: Day 3 is two tournaments running simultaneously. One is the standard points grind. The other is a Chicken Dinner hunt, and the team leading after Day 2 has the most to lose, they set the threshold that makes everyone else dangerous.

Favorites

GodLike Esports are the Indian contender with the stronger Grand Finals upside. Manya's IGL calling in a global lobby, combined with 73 eliminations in the group stage, suggests a team that can impose aggression rather than just respond to it. A top-six finish is realistic. A podium would be historic and not impossible.

4Thrives (Pakistan) qualified first in Group A and are the form team entering the Grand Finals. They play a disciplined, zone-read style that the Smash Rule format rewards, they do not need to win flashily, they need to be alive when the threshold gets set.

Team Flash (Vietnam) are the Southeast Asian danger. Vietnamese PUBG Mobile teams have consistently outperformed their seeding in World Championship lobbies. Flash are patient, efficient, and dangerous in the late game.

Tianba (China) came through the Survival Stage, which means they have already been in an elimination-pressure environment this week. Chinese PUBG Mobile organizations historically peak at the right time, and Tianba entering with recent competitive reps is not the disadvantage it might look like.

Players to Watch

Aaru (Orangutan), His 1v3 clutch in the group stage was not a fluke. In a format where individual moments can swing an entire Chicken Dinner race, Aaru is the player most likely to produce something that ends up in every Indian esports highlight reel by Sunday.

Manya (GodLike), IGL performance in the Smash Rule format is disproportionately important. The calling gets harder when your opponents know they need a Chicken Dinner and every team adjusts rotations accordingly. Manya's decision-making on Day 3 will define GodLike's ceiling.

Prize Pool

The Grand Finals $1.7 million is distributed across placements. No team goes home empty, every Grand Finalist earns prize money. The gap between 1st and 16th, though, is the difference between a career-defining payday and a consolation figure.

The bracket is good. The format is unforgiving. The prize pool is serious. But none of that is what makes PMWC 2026 different from the editions before it.

What makes it different is that two Indian rosters, not one, qualified directly from the group stage against 30 other teams from across the world. They did not sneak through. GodLike finished 3rd in the Group of Death. Orangutan won back-to-back Chicken Dinners. They earned this.
