BMSD 2026 Day 1: VE and WELT Lead as Group A Stays Tight and Group B Takes Shape
Day 1 of the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SHOWDOWN (BMSD) 2026 Promotion & Relegation stage has concluded, with Vasista Esports (VE) and Welt esports (WELT) leading Groups A and B respectively. Both teams finished the opening day with 37 points after three matches, but their routes to the top were noticeably different.
VE built their lead through aggressive fighting, collecting 25 finish points and 12 placement points. WELT, meanwhile, relied more heavily on survival and positioning, earning 21 placement points alongside 16 finish points.
With BLEG and MADking close behind WELT in Group B, and RGE and OR among the leading teams in Group A, the opening standings leave plenty of room for movement as the tournament continues.
Group A: VE Lead as RGE and TEAM OUTRAGE Stay Close
Velocity Esports finished Day 1 at the top of Group A with 37 points, six ahead of Reckoning Esports, who occupy second place with 31 points.
VE's total was driven by 25 finish points, compared with 12 placement points. Their aggressive approach helped them establish an early lead, although the three-match sample means there is still plenty of competition ahead.
RGE sit second with 31 points, recording 20 finish points and 11 placement points. Defending champions Team Outrage (OR) are third with 29 points, including 22 finish points and seven placement points.
Outrage recorded the group's highest finish-point total among the teams listed in the standings, but currently trail VE by eight points.
7GDS occupy fourth place with 26 points, while Team Soul are fifth with 25. Soul's 17 finish points show their ability to secure eliminations, while their eight placement points leave room for improvement in the standings.
At the bottom of Group A, Genesis Esports have seven points after three matches, with all seven coming from finishes.

Group B: WELT Take the Early Lead as BLITZ and MADKING Follow
Welt fire finished the opening day at the top of Group B with 37 points, matching VE's total in Group A.
Unlike VE, WELT's points came primarily from placement. The team recorded 21 placement points and 16 finish points, giving them a different scoring profile from the Group A leaders.
Blitz esports sit second with 33 points, built around 21 finish points and 12 placement points. MADking are just one point further back in third with 32 points, including 19 finish points and 13 placement points.
The narrow gaps between the top three mean the Group B standings remain closely contested after the opening three matches.
HBSN occupy fourth place with 24 points, followed by V1BA with 21. Further down the table, several teams remain within reach of one another, including WW, CLZA, LSDE, NINZ and RCE.
RE finished Day 1 in 16th place with three points.

What Comes Next in BMSD 2026?
The Promotion & Relegation stage continues with Week 1 running from September 22 to 24, followed by two additional weeks before the tournament progresses to the survival stages.

BMSD 2026 features a ₹1 Crore prize pool, with the champions set to receive ₹30 lakh. The top six teams will also qualify for the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA INTERNATIONAL CUP (BMIC) 2026.
The LAN Grand Finals will take place at Savaaya Convention, Gandipet, Hyderabad, from October 16 to 18.
All matches are scheduled to be broadcast live on the KRAFTON India Esports YouTube channel, starting at 1:00 PM IST daily.
BMSD 2026 Day 1: The Race Is Just Beginning
VE and WELT have emerged as the opening-day leaders, but the standings remain subject to change as the Promotion & Relegation stage progresses.
RGE and Orangutan remain within reach in Group A, while Blitz and MADking are close behind WELT in Group B. Team Soul and GodLike Esports will also be looking to improve their positions in the upcoming matches.
With several weeks of competition still ahead, Day 1 has established the early standings without determining the final outcome.
