KRAFTON India Kicks Off BMSD 2026: Second Edition of BGMI Showdown Begins
KRAFTON India has officially kicked off the second edition of the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SHOWDOWN (BMSD) 2026, with the Promotion & Relegation stage beginning today, September 22. The invite-only tournament features 48 of India's top-performing BGMI teams competing for a ₹1 Crore prize pool and a place at the LAN Grand Finals in Hyderabad.
The tournament has doubled its invited field from 24 teams in 2025 to 48 teams this year. Participation is based entirely on competitive performance, with teams selected through the KIE Leaderboard, BGIS, and BMPS. There are no open registrations for BMSD 2026.
With multiple competitive stages scheduled over the coming weeks, teams will battle for the championship title and qualification opportunities for the international BGMI esports circuit.
BMSD 2026 Features India's Top BGMI Teams
Defending champions Orangutan return to BMSD 2026 to defend the title they secured during the tournament's debut edition in Hyderabad last year, under the leadership of in-game leader Aaru.
They will face a field featuring several of India's accomplished BGMI esports organisations, including:
- Orangutan: Defending BMSD champions.
- GodLike Esports: Winners of BMPS 2026.
- Team Soul: Champions of BGIS 2026.
- Nebula Esports: Winners of BGMI Masters Series Season 5.
The presence of these championship-winning teams adds another layer of competition to the expanded 48-team field, with Orangutan looking to retain its title against some of the country's leading organisations.
₹1 Crore Prize Pool and BMIC 2026 Qualification
BMSD 2026 features a ₹1 Crore prize pool, with the winning team set to receive ₹30 lakh. The remaining prize money will be distributed among the top 16 finishers.
Beyond the prize money, the tournament also provides a qualification pathway to international competition.
The top six teams from BMSD 2026 will advance to the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA INTERNATIONAL CUP (BMIC) 2026, where they will compete against teams from Japan and South Korea.
The qualification pathway also leads towards the GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2026, giving teams another opportunity to compete on the international stage.

BMSD 2026 will progress through eight scheduled stages, beginning with Promotion & Relegation on September 22 and concluding with the LAN Grand Finals from October 16 to 18.
