KRAFTON Inc. Chairman Byung Gyu Chang met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on September 4, with the company reaffirming its long-term commitment to India's gaming, technology and digital entertainment ecosystem.

KRAFTON plans to invest another $250 million in India over the next three to four years, on top of the $250 million it has already invested in the country. That takes the company's total planned investment in India to approximately $500 million.

KRAFTON has also set up a separate $670 million venture growth fund to facilitate further investments in India.

KRAFTON Expands Focus Beyond Gaming

The meeting highlighted opportunities for India and South Korea to strengthen India's position as a global hub for gaming, innovation and emerging technologies.

KRAFTON said its investments will support the country's gaming ecosystem, homegrown intellectual property and startups, while expanding its focus into AI, robotics and deep-tech.

The company's plans also align with Prime Minister Modi's Viksit Bharat vision and the "Create in India, Create for India, Create for the World" mission. KRAFTON said this will help enable Indian talent to build globally competitive games and digital experiences for audiences in India and around the world.

"India is a market of immense opportunity, with exceptional talent across gaming, technology and innovation," KRAFTON Chairman Byung Gyu Chang said, adding that the company's continued investments reflect its long-term confidence in India and its commitment to contributing to the country's digital economy.

KRAFTON's Existing India Investments

The latest commitment builds on several initiatives KRAFTON has already established in India.

The company recently launched KIGI Academy, an industry-academia initiative focused on building future-ready skills across game development and digital creation.

KRAFTON has also strengthened its presence in India through the acquisition of Nautilus Mobile, the Pune-based studio behind the popular Real Cricket franchise. The move further supports the company's focus on Indian gaming talent and locally developed intellectual property.

Since 2021, KRAFTON says it has invested more than $250 million in Indian startups across interactive entertainment, gaming, esports and technology.

The company has also launched the KRAFTON India Unicorn Growth Fund, a Rs 6,000 crore fund established jointly with South Korean technology company Naver and financial services firm Mirae Asset. The fund is aimed at supporting high-potential startups and accelerating the growth of India's next generation of global technology companies.

BGMI Remains KRAFTON India's Flagship

BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) remains KRAFTON India's flagship title and has surpassed 260 million downloads, according to the company.

KRAFTON India's portfolio also includes Bullet Echo India, Road To Valor: Empires, CookieRun India and Real Cricket, giving the company a presence across several segments of India's mobile gaming market.

Beyond publishing games, KRAFTON says it is focused on strengthening India's broader digital entertainment ecosystem through startup investment, talent development and support for emerging technologies.

What Comes Next

KRAFTON has not disclosed how the additional $250 million will be divided across gaming, startups, talent-development initiatives and emerging technology areas.

What the company has made clear is the direction of its India strategy. Its focus now extends beyond game publishing into homegrown IP, startup investment, skill development, AI, robotics and deep-tech.

With the latest commitment, KRAFTON's total planned investment in India reaches approximately $500 million, adding to its existing startup investments, talent-development initiatives and growing presence in the country's gaming and technology ecosystem.
